hi there!

thanks for this valuable information. I know a lot of Filipinos will be interested on this opportunity.

I'm Andrew, a moderator of the Pinoy Scholars blog/Facebook page. I hope you can join our group and pool of writers!

cheers.

You don't need a recommendation from the Korean consulate. Pay a visit to your almamater and have a recommendation letter written by your adviser. If this is impossible, say, your adviser has already left the uni, then craft for yourself a letter and have it signed by the dean.

you can send the docs to the Korean embassy in Makati if you live in the Philippines. The deadline varies from country to country so better check it first before preparing your app package.

hi.. just wondered.. how to tackle this scholarship?? do you have to be very "extraordinary" ? because although i have a good grade in unversity, i don't think i have that "extraordinary" capacities. i mean like be a leader in certain organisations, participate in competitions, etc.

thanks... =)

Hi thanks for posting it..but I just can't open the application form..pls. help me..;)

here's my email add: assenav_js@yahoo.com

God bless you more!

Eliot said...

Why would you get extraordinary grades if you're not an extraordinary student? Living up to your marks should not be that difficult.
If you go to another country, you gotta be more than just "good". You bear the country's name on your forehead. ^^
I already sent you the files. Good luck on your application.

Hi Elliot!

Thanks for the info.

I am interested in the programme kaya lang wala ako sa Pilipinas eh. Nun naginquire ako sa Korea Embassy dito, they said it's either magpasa ako sa Korea Embassy sa Pinas or sa mismong university. Qualified pa rin ba kaming asa ibang bansa who wish to study further or this is specifically for Filipinos residing in the Philippines?

Thank you and more power to your blog.

I wonder, is this for college graduates only? I'm just a high school graduate and want to study college especially korean language and lit.....I'm 25 years old now. I'm just one of the poorest people in the Philippines and breadwinner of my family.I supported my siblings education that's why I didn't go to college but now I'm free.

Hello. Can you please send the application forms in the format of .doc in my email fierywings@gmail.com? Tyvm! ^_^

Eliot said...

Hi. You have to have an undergraduate degree in order to become eligible for the scholarship.

Anonymous said...

hi elliot!

im sorry but do you know the process of collating documents? i am not in the philippines and the documents i have are the authenticated ones (yung may red ribbon pero photocopies lang sila). hindi ba pede yun?

thank you very much.

Eliot said...

I'm not sure. But if the red ribbon can be recognized as equivalent of a dry seal or an official signature, pwede. Inquire mo sa Korean embassy coz the scholarship is run by them ^^

Anonymous said...

which has a greater chance, submit in the korean embassy or in the chosen university in korea?thanks!

Eliot said...

Those are two different steps.
You get a scholarship for a year to learn Korean. Then you take an assessment test. If you pass, then you apply to a uni that will accept you. You might not land in Seoul or Yonsei or Korea uni but you'll get placed for sure. If you take the test and fail, you go back to the Phils. Reason: you study for 4-6 years with Korean as the medium of instruction.

Jepoi Ordaniel said...

Hey, it's a little different this year. The embassy in Manila will not recommend a single candidate. So all applicants will need to apply through a Korean university. And if you get the scholarship, you study there for 3 years, including language training.

and you may now choose courses taught in English (International Studies at Sogang or Broadcasting and Visual Comm at Hanyang or study at SKKU where English is the medium) for as long as the tuition fee does not exceed 5 Million won/semester. Language training will still be mandatory though.
